Workshops

Wildlife Awareness

4 hours at Melbourne Zoo or a location of your choice.

This private workshop is for people who encounter local native wildlife in their daily work. Build your understanding of animals natural behaviour, explore common scenarios that involve wildlife in need and find out who you can call on for support.

You will learn about:

  • Life history and natural behaviours of native wildlife
  • Awareness of wildlife living in your area
  • Recognising and identifying wildlife in need 
  • What to do, who to contact and when 
  • Common scenarios and practical examples

Wildlife Treatment and Care

20-hour course hosted online and at Zoos Victoria.

This course is for veterinarians, veterinary nurses and veterinary students who want to improve their capability to undertake wildlife triage, first aid, treatment and care. Provided in partnership with Taronga Training Institute, it includes a combination of online education and an optional one-day practical workshop at Zoos Victoria.

Emergency wildlife help 

Learn who you should contact if you find a sick, injured, orphaned or distressed animal.

Marine Response Unit 

Learn about Victoria’s first dedicated marine unit, the Marine Response Unit, who respond to calls for assistance involving marine wildlife in Victorian waters.

Take a virtual tour through Healesville Sanctuary’s Raptor Rehabilitation Centre, hosted by a Zoos Victoria veterinarian.
